The presentation on *Supply Chain Management Basics: Building Efficient and Sustainable Systems* by Dr. Dominic Worner and Dr. John Paul Manning focused on Supply Chain Management (SCM), which has become a critical foundation for modern business operations. Essentially, SCM covers all processes that enable a product to move from the initial production phase to eventually reach the consumer. This supply chain includes not only the flow of physical products but also other important processes such as the flow of information, financial transactions, and relevant knowledge-based elements. In an era of increasing competition, SCM focuses on optimizing planning, procurement, and logistics management.
SCM operates within a complex ecosystem, where integrated coordination among all involved parties—such as suppliers, intermediaries, third parties, and consumers—plays a crucial role. The primary goal of SCM is to enhance process efficiency, achieved through careful monitoring of the flow of raw materials, services, information, and finances. When all these aspects run smoothly, the supply chain can function more efficiently, delivering high-quality products that meet customer needs.
