Semarang, November 25, 2024 – In an effort to strengthen the synergy between vocational education and the maritime-logistics industry, the Logistics Management and Administration Study Program of the Vocational School at Diponegoro University (UNDIP) conducted a business visit to the Indonesia National Shipowners’ Association (INSA) DPC Semarang office and PT Layar Sentosa Shipping on March 5, 2024. This visit marked the beginning of initiating a strategic collaboration aimed at supporting the development of student competencies in logistics and shipping.
The delegation from the Logistics Management and Administration Study Program, including Dr. Nurul Imani Kurniawati, S.E., M.M., the PIC of the study program’s cooperation, Dr. Dra. Luluk Fauziah, M.Si, Head of the Applied Master’s Program in Logistics Management Team, Dr. Mashudi, S.E., M.M., and Mr. Suwandi, S.A.P, M.Si, faculty members of the study program, was warmly received by the Chairman of INSA DPC Semarang, Mr. Hari Ratmoko, S.Kom. During the meeting, potential areas for collaboration were discussed, including internship programs, technical training, and applied research opportunities that align with the challenges and needs of the maritime logistics industry.
“We highly appreciate the visit from UNDIP Vocational School, particularly the Logistics Management and Administration Study Program. The shipping and logistics industry needs human resources with practical skills to support the efficiency and sustainability of the sector,” said Mr. Hari Ratmoko.
The representatives of the Logistics Management and Administration Study Program expressed that this initiative aligns with the program’s mission to produce graduates who are job-ready and highly competitive. “We are optimistic that this collaboration will help students understand the dynamics of the industry firsthand and prepare them to face global challenges in the logistics and shipping sectors,” said Dr. Nurul Imani Kurniawati, S.E., M.M.
As a follow-up, INSA and UNDIP Vocational School are expected to formalize this collaboration through a Cooperation Agreement (PKS) or a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU). The agreement aims to strengthen the foundation of concrete cooperation, particularly in work-based programs designed to support the direct development of students’ skills in the industrial world.
