The Logistics Management and Administration Study Program of Universitas Diponegoro held a special event titled Visiting Professor on Tuesday, October 22, 2024. Conducted virtually, this program successfully featured two renowned experts from Malaysia who discussed crucial topics related to the development of halal logistics and future trends in logistics management through applied research.

The first session was led by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nor Aida Abdul Rahman, an academic from Universiti Kuala Lumpur, Malaysian Institute of Aviation Technology (UniKL MIAT), Subang, Selangor, Malaysia. In her presentation titled “The Essentials of Halal Logistics: A Comprehensive Overview,” Dr. Nor Aida invited participants to explore the importance of halal logistics, emphasizing not only compliance with halal standards but also maintaining the integrity of the supply chain from start to finish. Amidst growing global demand for halal products, logistics rooted in Islamic principles have become an integral part of broader business strategies.

Dr. Nor Aida’s presentation provided practical insights for students and academics on the significant challenges and opportunities in this industry. Focusing on contamination prevention, halal certification, and the importance of innovation, the session sparked discussions on how halal products can continue to compete in an increasingly competitive international market. The session was moderated by Ms. Anafil Windriya, S.E., M.Si.

In the second session, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Bahtiar Mohamad from Universiti Utara Malaysia (UUM), moderated by Dr. Drs. Luluk Fauzia, M.Si, delivered a forward-looking presentation titled “Future Trends: Leveraging Applied Research for Logistics Management.” Dr. Bahtiar highlighted the importance of applied research in addressing the evolving dynamics of logistics in the digital era. He explained that technologies such as artificial intelligence (AI), big data, and the Internet of Things (IoT) will play a significant role in enhancing operational efficiency and decision-making in the logistics sector. These technologies, according to him, can more accurately anticipate changes in trends and customer needs, thus increasing the competitiveness of logistics companies in the global market.

Dr. Bahtiar also emphasized the importance of collaboration between universities and industries in developing innovative and sustainable logistics solutions. Applied research, which bridges academic theory and field practice, is key to solving future logistics challenges.

The event was met with great enthusiasm by participants, particularly students of Logistics Management and Administration at Universitas Diponegoro, as well as students from other universities who had the opportunity to gain direct insights from international experts. Not only did it broaden their knowledge of the latest trends in the logistics world, but it also inspired them to continue innovating in the field.

With the successful execution of this program, the Logistics Management and Administration Study Program at the Vocational School of Universitas Diponegoro has strengthened its commitment as a proactive educational institution in shaping the future leaders of logistics, while also enhancing its position on the international educational stage.
